Charise Besson is a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University.
Charise supports individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, and the challenges of living with invisible disabilities.
Charise’s approach to therapy is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness practices, and attachment-based theory. She tailors each session to meet the unique needs of her clients, helping them build resilience, develop effective coping strategies, and take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Charise worked in both community and healthcare settings, including roles in case management with the Department of Community Services and policy development with the Department of Health and Wellness. These experiences deepened her understanding of how systemic and personal factors intersect in shaping mental health.
Charise is committed to providing a supportive, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where clients feel truly heard and empowered. She believes in walking alongside clients with empathy and clarity, honouring each person’s strengths and capacity for transformation. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply in need of guidance, Charise is here to support your journey toward renewed balance and emotional well-being.
