is a trauma therapist, clinical supervisor, and educator with more than a decade of experience in community mental health, residential treatment, integrated health systems, and private practice. Over the past nine years in private practice, she has completed over 4,000 clinical sessions with more than 400 clients, work that reflects her commitment to thoughtful, effective, and compassionate care.
Emily began her training at the Adler School of Professional Psychology (now Adler University). She was drawn to Adlerian ideas that emphasize social interest, community feeling, and the belief that individual struggles reflect broader social forces. During her graduate studies, she completed a thesis on what helps, hinders, or would have helped bereaved informal caregivers. This study shaped her early understanding of resilience and the kinds of support that allow people to carry difficult experiences. Emily’s early clinical work took place in Vancouver. She worked with unhoused individuals in the Downtown Eastside, completed extended practicum training in a residential substance use treatment centre, and gained outpatient experience through the Canadian Mental Health Association. She later supported people with serious concurrent disorders through roles in rehabilitation, Assertive Community Treatment teams, a large methadone clinic that served more than 1,000 patients, and the Fraser Health Authority.
After moving into private practice, Emily became a senior clinician and consultant in trauma-informed care and EMDR. She has supervised practicum students, supported candidacy-level therapists, and provided both individual and group EMDR consultation. She also holds the Canadian Certified Supervisor (CCS) credential, which reflects her formal training in clinical supervision completed through the University of Lethbridge. Emily expanded Wholetherapy in 2020 into a group practice.
Her practice grew into a supportive and skilled team of 20 therapists. She is dedicated to helping therapists build confidence, clarity, and sustainability in their work. She is also the founder of the Maritime Integrative Trauma Institute, where she creates accredited continuing education programs and advances integrative approaches to trauma treatment, including the emerging Whole Healing Integrative Model.
