
Lindsey is a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). She is also a School Counsellor with the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. During her 20+ year career in the education system, Lindsey has also held various roles such as Learning Centre Teacher, Student Support Teacher, Transition Teacher, and Department Head for Student Services. With an educational background that spans across diverse fields of psychology, mental health, and education, she takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on her experience to provide tailored support for the unique needs of each individual and family.
Lindsey began her training with undergraduate degrees in Science (Biology and Psychology) from Saint Mary's University and Education from the University of New Brunswick. She went on to obtain a Masters of Education Degree in Curriculum Studies (Supporting Learners with Diverse Needs and Exceptionalities) from Mount Saint Vincent University; a Masters of Education Degree in Leadership & Administration (with a focus on mental health) from St. Francis Xavier University; and a Masters of Education Degree in Counselling from Acadia University. Lindsey is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Psychology to further deepen and strengthen her clinical work with clients.
Originally from Cape Breton Island, Lindsey values authenticity, warmth, and connection, and these values guide how she shows up in her work with clients. She holds a deep trust in people’s resilience, their inherent goodness, and the capacity for growth. Lindsey believes in the power of hope, the importance of self advocacy/autonomy, and our innate desire to connect meaningfully and positively with others. Her approach is grounded in trust, empathy, and support. She also has a special knack for helping people discover their passions, strengths, and talents and genuinely encourages exploration of these qualities.
Lindsey strives to make her therapy sessions a place where clients feel relaxed, supported, and empowered to tackle life's challenges. Lindsey cultivates a warm, thoughtful, and steady therapeutic space balanced with a sense of lightheartedness where humour is always welcome.
Lindsey has experience supporting clients of all ages in variety of areas, and enjoys working with individuals, families, and couples. She has a special interest and experience in the following topics: women's wellness and health; neurodiversity (e.g. autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, etc.); grief counselling; obsessive compulsive disorder; anxiety disorder; career exploration and work/life balance; navigating life transitions (e.g. divorce, career changes, etc.); family systems and dynamics; school-related issues (e.g., school avoidance, peer relationships, etc.); sexual wellness (e.g. intimacy, sexuality, infidelity, etc.); and positive interpersonal skills (e.g. conflict resolution, boundary setting, self advocacy, etc.).
Lindsey has a vast amount of knowledge and experience in navigating and accessing supports within both education and mental health systems. She is a strong advocate for marginalized and/or vulnerable populations and has a solid understanding of the various barriers that often exist within the complex systems in our society. Lindsey also has both a personal and professional passion for working with clients who are impacted by social justice issues, particularly those who have experienced acts of sexual harm/violence. She is deeply committed to providing a safe, supportive, and non judgmental space to help individuals find peace and purpose through their healing journey.
Lindsey also volunteers with Hospice Halifax as a Group Bereavement Facilitator. This role underscores her dedication to providing compassionate support to those navigating grief and loss.
When not working, Lindsey loves travelling, going to concerts/live music, strolling through local markets, playing guitar, watching live theatre, catching up with friends over dinner (or tea), going to football games, and summers filled with road trips and beach days. Her heart is happiest when spending time with her friends and family, two very special Boston Terriers (Clem and Ringo), and, most of all, her favorite person on the planet...her much loved nephew.
